The Plasencia Alma del Fuego is a cigar born from the fiery soul of Nicaragua. Its story starts on Ometepe Island, where two volcanoes, Concepción and Maderas, rise from the middle of Lake Nicaragua. Their black volcanic soil is famous for producing some of the best tobacco in the world. To honor this land, the Plasencia family created Alma del Fuego, which means “Soul of Fire.”
This cigar is a Nicaraguan puro made with tobaccos grown entirely on the Plasencia family’s farms. The double binder and half of the filler are from Ometepe and are aged for 7 years to bring out the full flavor. The rest of the fillers and the oily, reddish-brown wrapper are from the Jalapa Valley and add natural sweetness to balance the Ometepe leaf. Together these tobaccos create a medium to full-bodied smoke.
Light it up and you’ll find flavors of earth, leather, espresso and spice, with notes of coffee bean, clove, dried fruit, roasted cashews and tangerine and guava wood. The finish is nutty and sweet. It’s a powerful and smooth cigar, full of character and elegance. Rated 92-93 by experts and one of Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 of 2019, this cigar is more than just a smoke, it’s a tribute to the passion and fire of Nicaragua itself.
