The A. Flores 1975 – Connecticut Valley Reserve is a cigar line from PDR Cigars, crafted by Abe Flores in the Dominican Republic. It comes in two versions: Azul (with a lighter Connecticut Broadleaf Rosado wrapper) and Roja (with a darker Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper). The line used to be part of PDR’s Flowers y Rodriguez series, but since 2022 it is part of the A. Flores 1975 brand. These cigars are released only twice a year and come in box counts of ten.
Both Azul and Roja share a similar blend under the wrapper. They have binders from Nicaragua – including Jalapa tobacco – and fillers that combine Nicaraguan Criollo ’98 with Dominican Corojo, including some ligero grown by Leo Reyes. The updated blend has a bit more Dominican Corojo and slightly less Nicaraguan filler than before.
These cigars are medium to full in strength. The Azul offers bright flavors with hints of raisin, cinnamon, earth, and cedar, while the Roja gives deeper, richer notes due to its darker wrapper. The construction is strong, with even burns and reliable draws.
